On a night where Ben Tackie looked slower than a 60 year old George Foreman, He was completely out boxed by "the Beloved Son" of the Contender series. The fight was littered with comic relief and horrid commentary by Teddy Atlas. My score card ended 98 - 92 in favor of Gomez, while some how Mr. Atlas came up with 96 - 95 in favor of Gomez and contemplated calling the fight a draw. Gomez took the first five rounds easily by throwing hundreds of jabs, and eluding the slow motion lunging straight right of Tackie. Gomez seemed to lose some steam in rounds 6,7, and 8 but ultimately won the 7th. Tackie stole the 6th and 8th round from a sluggish Gomez. The final two rounds weren't very sexy by any means. Gomez ultimately took both the 9th and the 10th by reverting back to the game plan and throwing punch after punch. In conclusion the fight lacked excitement. . . It had none. I'm not sure a single power punch was landed all night. Gomez looked very disciplined and stuck to a game plan from round 1 to round 10. Tackie did what he always does. He looked slow and moved forward, not side to side or backwards, He moved forward and was greeted with a jab all night long. The official Judges score cards where 97-93, 98-92 , 98-92.
